About us and all we do for our community.

Living Branches is a not-for-profit system of retirement living and affordable housing communities dedicated to providing quality, life-enriching services on three campuses in southeastern Pennsylvania. The organization employs more than 600 team members and offers a wide range of housing, support services, and engaging activities for more than 1,350 residents. We are run for neighbors, by neighbors. You can be assured you are part of an authentic tradition that has stayed true to the values of our local community.

The name Living Branches is derived from John 15:5, where Jesus teaches his disciples that he is the vine and, as branches, they will draw their strength and sense of mission from him. Living Branches communities are vibrant places where older adults and families lead lives of purpose and joy. Residents benefit from fitness and wellness opportunities, pursue lifelong learning and service, and offer support to friends old and new.

Our history.

Living Branches was created through an affiliation between Souderton Mennonite Homes and Dock Woods community. The board of directors made the decision to affiliate the two organizations in 2008. This decision was made not only because of their proximity to each other, but, more importantly, because both organizations were ministries of the Franconia Mennonite Conference and shared common beliefs and values.

These senior living communities had a longstanding history in the area. Souderton Mennonite Homes was established in 1917 as the Eastern Mennonite Home of the Franconia District. Hatfield Mennonite Home, later renamed The Willows of Living Branches, was founded by the Franconia Mennonite Conference in 1942. Dock Woods began in 1981 as an outgrowth of the Hatfield Mennonite Home.

Who We Are Today

Today, Souderton Mennonite Homes and Dock Woods offer Residential Living, Personal Care, and Health Care, as well as services for Memory Care. The Willows of Living Branches provides Personal Care, and residents have access to Health Care within the Living Branches system. Through Dock Manor and Dock Village on the campus of Dock Woods, Living Branches also offers affordable housing for older adults and families who qualify for HUD housing rental assistance.

The senior living communities of Living Branches welcome people of all backgrounds and walks of life. Affiliated with the Mosaic Mennonite Conference, the communities are guided by the long-standing Mennonite tradition of care and service to others.

All Living Branches communities accept persons without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, or handicap.

Living Branches Foundation for Benevolent Care

Benevolent Care is a ministry that provides grants to residents who, through no fault of their own, can no longer cover the full cost of their care. Although every person is unique, their individual stories share common themes. They have worked hard, raised children, given back to their communities, and saved for their retirement. But now, unanticipated challenges have placed them in a position of financial need.

How Great is the Need?

In recent years, Living Branches has provided some form of benevolent or unreimbursed care to more than 100 residents each year. The Living Branches Foundation is typically able to provide grants of over $1,000,000 from fund earnings to offset a portion of the costs of care.
